Lysistrata or better yet, Excelsior!

I can't remember the comedians name or even where I saw the footage but it was over ten years ago at least. He was making jokes about how we must all know that a man definitely came up with the word vagina, because it needed an ugly name to reduce it's power. He went on to say if we had called Excelsior things would be different. "If you take me shopping, I will show you Excelsior" was one of the punchlines.

Base, yes, but still rather funny and for me it was indeed thought provoking. It's sad really that years later, as in today, we find ourselves discussing the reproductive rights of women in our political debates. I wont go into a rant about that right now. Instead I just wanted to post a link to a Greek play written around 411 BC. It's not only hilarious but timeless.

Lysistrata

Oh and I would like to point out that I do know my anatomy and the above comedian probably meant vulva but I suspect vagina has become to go-to word for that entire area of the female body, at least in comedy.
